His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, today reviewed the action plan and the 100-day programme of the Minister of State for Youth Affairs, in the presence of Shaikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai.
In a meeting with Mohammed Abdullah Al Gargawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and the Future, and Shamma bint Sohail bint Faris Al Mazroui, Minister of State for Youth Affairs, Shaikh Mohammed approved a number of initiatives and programmes for establishing youth councils across the country, as well as launching an integrated directory for youth values which will serve as a reference in all youth-related educational and media materials.
Shaikh Mohammed also issued directives to draft a long term national strategy for youth engagement and to launch a joint programme with the UAE's permanent mission, aimed at developing the skills of the young Emiratis representing the country in international arenas.
He also sanctioned the launch of youth platforms in collaboration with relevant national organisations to explore opportunities for the youth.
"Governments cannot carry out sustainable development without meaningful partnerships with the youth," Shaikh Mohammed said.
He said that the UAE was established by the youth and will continue to rely on their capabilities and skills.
"We advised the minister of state for youth affairs to listen, listen and listen to the youth and to convey to us their feedback so that the government can create an ideal environment for them to achieve their aspirations," he added.
Shaikh Mohammed noted that caring about the youth is not solely a responsibility of the Minister for Youth Affairs, but of all government and private entities.
The Minister of State for Youth Affairs said while presenting her 100-day programme that the action plan and the different initiatives were aimed at developing an integrated system to provide support to the youth and to create an environment where the youth can innovate and contribute to the welfare of the community.
The action plan is inspired by the vision of Shaikh Mohammed for a government that provides hope, life and future.
The programme includes the following elements:
- Hope making: Inspiring the youth to provide hope to others by shining light on the outstanding young Emiratis and celebrating their achievements
- Life making: Supporting and encouraging the youth to provide a better life to others by empowering them to engage in social responsibility
- Future making: Continuously pursuing solutions to lead in the future and to cooperate with the youth in drawing their future
