His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, visited government departments early morning on Sunday.
The visits included the Dubai Municipality, the Dubai Lands Department, and the Economic Development Department (DED) and Dubai Airports.
Surprisingly, directors and senior officials of the said departments were not present during Shaikh Mohammed's surprise visit, according to the posts of Khalifa Saeed Salman, Director of the Protocol Department of Dubai on social media.
Social media users, however, praised Shaikh Mohammed's visits. "This is a message to officers, be they seniors or juniors. They have to report for duty on time," some of them said
Taking to her Twitter page, writer Maisaa Rashid said Shaikh Mohammed's visit reassures that no senior officer or director is exempt from reporting early for duty nor from being held to account.
She said to discover the negativities is the real positivity and innovation of administration. Feeling the glory of the institutions and departments in Dubai and the country as a whole does not mean covering up the negatives; rather it requires transparency and accountability, which is successful management.
"Whoever fails will be called to account for, and those who have excuses will be absolved. However, those found inactive will be reconsidered after the visit," she added.
Everybody expected Shaikh Mohammed to visit schools on Sunday, but instead he visited Dubai departments whose staff are expected to be examples to emulate. "This visit is not something new to him," she added
Al Hamadi said a successful leader is he who is present and close to his team at the workplace.
