His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, accompanied by HH Shaikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, has honoured the winners of the 19th edition of Dubai Government Excellence Programme (DGEP) Awards, during a ceremony which took place today at the Dubai World Trade Centre.
In a speech he gave at the ceremony, Shaikh Mohammed congratulated the winners and praised the team of DGEP for their efforts, saying that the Dubai government departments have made great strides during their 19-year journey towards excellence and creativity, which is also in line with the vision of all UAE governments. They are going the same way at their steady pace to accomplish the high national goals, namely bringing happiness to the people as well as providing services at the highest standards across the local and federal government entities.
However, the Dubai Ruler also warned officials, whose departments failed to achieve positive results this year, as they thought they had reached the top and stopped improving their work. He also ordered them to continue the journey to excellence, and to start working hard from today to be ready in the next edition of the DGEP - where he urged them to implement the fourth generation of the Government Excellence Programme, which is used by the federal government.
Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) won 6 awards, while Dubai Customs netted 5 DGEP trophies. Other winners included Dubai Police, Road and Transport Authority among many others.
