Bank of Sharjah and Al Noor Training Center celebrated the arrival of a custom-built bus for children with special needs at a ribbon-cutting ceremony this morning.
The event started with a meet and greet with the children followed by a ride in the new bus and ended with a performance by the center's children.
The bus, a Toyota Coaster 30-seater Petrol, is fully dedicated to children with a variety of special needs. The project is the latest collaboration between the bank and Al Noor Training Center, which has resulted in the opening of new doors of opportunity for children with special needs.
Modified using the highest safety standards and state-of-the-art mechanisms, the bus meets a major demand for special needs vehicles in the UAE explained Aida Armali, Manager Bank of Sharjah.
She stated that: "With the center educating more than 260 children with special needs and not having a sufficient fleet of vehicles, we felt compelled to step in and support them and the amazing children that are in their care. Most importantly, our initiative aims to highlight, nurture and develop this important part of our community in the UAE."
The Al Noor Training Center will be applying stringent safety measures that are in line with the public transportation network of the UAE through which a devoted team of transportation personnel, including the driver, will be well trained in the various methods and etiquettes of dealing with the needs of the children on a daily basis.
"Ongoing and continued support from a platform of complete understanding is exemplified by the partnering of Bank of Sharjah with Al Noor Centre. Through the years Bank of Sharjah has supported various initiatives at the Centre, knowing how much they impact outcomes. This year our transport issues were appropriately addressed by the timely donation of a Bus by Bank of Sharjah," said Isphana Al Khatib, Director of the Centre.
"Here at the bank, we strongly believe that success is measured not by how much you receive but by how much you give back," added Armali.
