The Sharjah Police on Tuesday said the recent murder of a cabbie was due to financial dispute.
Two Iranians were arrested in connection which the murder few days back. A police source said the suspects confessed to have stabbed the victim due to financial dispute.
The police said the suspects drove the cab and parked it in a sandy area after the murder. The police received a call from the brother of the victim after he had found the cab. The body of the victim was sent to forensic laboratory for investigation and the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) formed a team to solve the case.
The police team managed to identify the suspects who were seen in the site of the crime.
The police team, in coordination with the Ajman Police, arrested the duo from their apartment in Ajman, where they shifted after the crime.
During interrogation, the suspects admitted that they stabbed the victim to death due to financial dispute. They said they drove the car to sandy area, removed its meter and number plates before dumping those in a trash bin.
Based on their confession, the case has been referred to the public prosecution for trial.
Colonel Ibrahim Al Ajill, Director of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Sharjah Police, hailed the investigation team for solving the case quickly. He urged the public to avoid violence in financial disputes and involve the police in order to solve it amicably or by law.
