A total of 52 power supply projects have been completed in the eastern region of Sharjah, the Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority (Sewa) has said.
"The execution of the projects began this year and is now complete. They are considered vital and necessary to achieve network stability in the region. The projects include two big power supply plants - in Al Saf 2 and the University district in Kalba city - and 50 small plants in various regions of Kalba and Wadi Al Helu," said Dr Rashid Al Leem, chairman of the Sewa.
"Sewa also upgraded eight plants, connected water supply to 500 buildings, and electricity services to 450 buildings in various areas of Kalba. The projects also included maintenance and network development works, as well as utility connections to commercial areas of the industrial zone in Kalba," he added.
Dr Al Leem explained that the projects implemented by the Sewa aim to develop and provide electricity and water services round the clock. "Al Saf power supply in Kalba will supply power to 500 homes and supports nearby areas."
Moza Al Zaabi, director of the Sewa office in Kalba, said the projects will deliver utility services in the Khor Kalba and Dahyat areas, including the Kalba Health Centre in Al Saf area. "The projects also included utility connections to 201 government departments and housing units in the city," he said.
