Sharjah Light Festival has put the spotlight on five of the most magnificent mosques in Sharjah - Masjid Al Noor beside Khalid Lagoon on Buhaira Corniche, Masjid Al Taqwa at Al Majaz Waterfront, Masjid Al Maghfira on the Sharjah Corniche Street, Masjid Al Qasimia University, and Al Dhaid's Masjid Ammar Bin Yasser.
These mosques, which stand out for their exquisite architectural styles, get a new splendour each evening as light creates innovative three-dimensional designs on them during the Sharjah Light Festival. The Sharjah Light Festival is being held from February 4 to 13 this year with daily shows from 6 pm to 11 pm on weekdays and until midnight on weekends.
This year, Masjid Al Noor on Buhariah Corniche gets wrapped in beautiful shapes by artist Mathilde Rouault, illustrating places and forms of art from around the world, while Masjid Al Taqwa features a show of travel by artist Cindy Lo, exploring different locations and scenery from the windows of a train.
Masjid Al Maghfira on the Sharjah Corniche Street hosts the show 'Original Maps', by artist Charlie Bayot, who transforms the mosque with graphical movements of light inspired by old world maps developed by Arab geographers from the Middle Ages.
Sharjah Light Festival has also drawn attention to the exquisite architecture of Masjid Al Qasimia University, which hosts the show, 'Inspiring Islamic Architecture', and Masjid Ammar Bin Yasser at Al Dhaid with 'A World of Colour' show.Organised by Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority, Sharjah Light Festival has entered its 6th year. The festival has added 10 new shows this year, bringing 23 unique experiences to the emirate.
