Sharjah Municipality marks Emirati Women's Day

Sharjah - Emirati women are encouraged and supported by the country's wise leadership

The Emirati Women's Day entrenches the strategy of empowerment in all spheres of life, said Waheeda Abdul Aziz, member of Sharjah Consultative Council (SCC), on behalf of Khawla Abdul Rahman Al Mulla, chairperson of SCC.
Addressing the celebration organised by the Sharjah Municipality to mark the Emirati Women's Day, Waheeda said the allocation of women's day represents a quantum leap for the march of Emirati women in all spheres of life. "It's a platform through which we look to the future of feminist activism in our emirate under the patronage of His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, and his wife Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi."
Khalifa bin Hada Al Suwaidi, acting director-general of the municipality, said the Emirati women are encouraged and supported by the country's wise leadership who followed the approach of the founding father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. "He strived for women to have an environment that enables creativity, success and excellence. His vision is still ahead of the time. He believed that women represents half of the society and the society where women do not take their role is far from progress and prosperity."
Al Suwaidi said the philanthropy in the UAE - whether at the local, regional or global levels - is innumerable. "It is the best example of humanitarian action that has become an approach. If we try to review our experiences in giving, we will celebrate every day."
Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, chairwoman of the General Women's Union, supreme chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation and president of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Sheikha Jawaher Al Qasimi stressed the need of instilling good and giving in the hearts of "daughters" of the UAE. "Our daughters have the goodness quality instilled in them and our role is to teach them about life experiences and guide them to improve their personalities to attain success and excellence in work and creativity."
