The operation room of Sharjah Police receive 1,200 complaints daily and have received 280,312 criminal complaints during the first half of the year, the police revealed on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Brigadier Saif Al Zari, the newly-appointed Sharjah Police chief, stressed on the importance of the media's role in achieving security, stability and peace in the country.
Brig Al Zari - while briefing the media persons who toured the operation room, Wasit comprehensive police station, traffic police stations and community police department - requested the media to avoid news that would affect the investigation process in criminal cases.
"Media of all its kinds is our partner in achieving security goal; we will facilitate media work to play its great role in conveying our message to the society."
The officers at the operation room told the reporters that they receive 1,200 complaints daily on an average.
They received 280,312 criminal complaints at 999 during the first six months of the year, which were attended by four officers who speak Arabic, English, Hindi Urdu, who then forward complaints to departments concerned or dispatch nearest patrols for emergency.
They also received 181, 370 traffic accidents complaints during the first half of the year in various parts of the emirate. The operation room also received 37,688 none emergency complaints at 901 which recently initiated for this purpose.
The officers said that around 40 Close circuit televisions (CCTV) were already installed as part of project 'Sharjah is safe city', to help police and other security forces to have an eye on the public to enhance security services.
The police chief also expressed his sympathies to the families of the martyrs in all emirates.
"They are the brave heroes who sacrificed their lives defending their country and bring justice to their brothers in Yemen, their sacrifices safeguard the pride and dignity of the nation..."
