Residents and citizens of Sharjah can all contribute to the progress of the emirate by supporting local products, entrepreneurs, stores, and shopping centres, said Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah and Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs (SCFA).
"Every citizen and resident wishes to see Sharjah achieve greater development and progress. Nevertheless, results are not achieved through wishes, but through the collective actions of every individual, and the keen passion of every community member in Sharjah to contribute to its development process," Sheikha Jawaher said as she addressed the virtual 'Our' Forum.
"It is this integration of the efforts of public and private entities that will lead us towards a better future." Sheikha Jawaher said Sharjah's strategy of social development stems from the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah.
The establishment of a host of entities to meet the aspirations of Sharjah's residents - and the coordinated actions of these organisations over the past 40 years - have led to a positive impact on communities across the emirate, she said.
'Our' forum brought together 33 entities in four community sectors, which work towards developing the talents of the youth; elevating the community; offering family counselling; and creating a secure environment for women.
A panel of experts shed light on how to innovate and improve development tools to create an efficient corporate culture, and outlined a roadmap for entities to apply this method and improve their strategies, plans, and work culture.
Empowering the youth
Sheikha Jawaher pointed out that a society's advancement calls for entities to engage and empower the community across all age groups, particularly the youth. She said that by offering them access to quality learning outside schools and developing their capacities from an early age, Sharjah has kept the youth engaged in decision-making. This sustains their role in social development as they embark on their careers.
Sheikha Jawaher said she hopes to see more youth achieve all-round excellence and occupy leading positions in industries within the country and across the region.
