The emirate's first English radio station, Pulse 95, was launched on Monday by Sharjah Media Corporation (SMC) in the presence of Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, SMC chairperson.
Themed 'The Heart of Sharjah', Pulse 95 is set to become the UAE's latest English radio voice, broadcast from Sharjah to the rest of the country on the 95.0 frequency.
The station will feature leading voices from the Emirati and global community including Sally Mousa, Sara Al Madani, Ana Schofield, Anna Roberts, Omar Al Busaidy, Hassan Dennaoui (Big Hass), and Iman Al Majali, who will present a vibrant mix of local and international news, exclusive interviews, features, morning talks, evening segments, and acoustic music covering chart-topping hits.
"The launch of Pulse 95 is an exciting venture into a new market for SMC. We have seen a real need to fill the gap in English language output, particularly when so many of the emirate's residents use English in their day-to-day lives and increasingly conduct business in English," Sheikh Sultan said.
"In line with that, we have created a unique station which has a worldwide agenda with Sharjah at the heart of its content, delivered by international presenters in an innovative, engaging and progressive format. This is a milestone for UAE broadcasting."
For the first time across the region, Pulse 95 is also bringing listeners popular Top 40 chart music in an acoustic format, in line with the brand of the station and its talk-radio style.
Mohammed Yanez, head of Pulse 95, said: "Our goal is to be a totally inclusive, fun, trusted, feel-good station, bringing the listeners positive, upbeat stories of real people. Our presenters are exceptional, with backgrounds in journalism and talk radio across national stations both at home and abroad. They also have huge social media influence, so many of our listeners will know their names already.
