The Dubai Crown Prince has called for streamlining efforts to achieve the objectives of the Fifty-Year Charter. The charter outlines the nine visions laid out by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who is also the Chairman of the Executive Council, said he closely follows up on the implementation of the document. He said the progress rates of various programmes "are promising". He directed the authorities concerned to maintain this momentum to achieve the objectives.
Sheikh Hamdan's remarks came as he chaired a meeting of the Executive Council on Sunday to review the progress of the charter's implementation. "The Fifty-Year Charter is a futuristic vision that is for the journey of Dubai, and an engine for its development journey in the future. It will allow the emirate to keep pace with global development, maintain its economic diversification and sustainability for a better future. That's why the close follow-up of the implementation of the charter tops the list of our priorities," Sheikh Hamdan said.
"With extra efforts and creativity, we will make the leap in our development journey and place Dubai in the position that Sheikh Mohammed has clearly outlined in the nine chapters of the charter."
The Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation (PCFC) briefed the Dubai Crown Prince about the progress rate on the Dubai Silk Road strategy. According to Sheikh Mohammed, Dubai would build its own silk road in cooperation with "our friendly neighbours". Internally, the strategy focuses on enhancing trade between free zones and the rest of the emirate. Externally, the focus will be on enhancing strategic and operational connection of logistics services between DP World terminals across the world, with Emirates Airline playing a key role. The silk road strategy comprises nine initiatives and 33 projects.
Sheikh Hamdan was also briefed about 'Dubai Blink', the world's first B2B smart commerce platform that will use artificial intelligence (AI), blockchain technology and virtual business licences, allowing companies from around the world to connect and trade via Dubai.
