Dubai’s ruling Al Maktoum family paid rich tribute to Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and UAE’s Minister of Finance, who passed away on Wednesday.

Taking to Twitter, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, paid tribute to his uncle, saying he was inspiration for them.
“To God we belong and to Him we shall return. Today, our nation bid farewell to one of its knights who stepped down after a great journey of giving that will remain immortal, from which we draw inspiration and lessons in upholding our country and spreading goodness. We ask God Almighty to have mercy on Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum and grant him a place in the heavens.”
In his tribute, Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, said, “We offer condolences to the people and the leadership on the death of Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum. May God have mercy on our dear deceased and grant him a place in paradise. We belong to Allah and to Him we shall return.”
Sheikh Mansoor Bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Sport Council, prayed for Sheikh Hamdan.
“He departed from us today... May God forgive him and bring us together in the gardens of bliss... We belong to God and to Him we shall return.”
Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairperson of Dubai Culture and Member of Dubai Council, said: “May God have mercy on you, my dear uncle... The eyes are tearful, the heart is grieved, and we are sad about your separation, but we only say that which pleases God: ‘We belong to God and to Him we shall return.’”
Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, Chairman of Dubai Airports and Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline & Group also paid tribute to Sheikh Hamdan, saying the late Deputy Ruler left his imprints on the UAE.
“May God have mercy on Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid, who had a big heart. The dear deceased had clear imprints on the UAE and renaissance of Dubai. Do not forget his great charitable and humanitarian work within the country and in various regions of the world.”
Sheikh Ahmed asked God Almighty to grant Sheikh Hamdan a blessed place with prophets, martyrs, and the good companions in heavens. “Our loss in you is great, O Abu Rashid. You were a great brother, teacher and inspiration. We are sad about your separation… We belong to God and to Him we shall return.”
