The President, His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, has ordered the release of 977 prisoners on account of the holy month of Ramadan.
The liabilities of the prisoners will also be paid off.
This gesture is an attempt to provide a second opportunity to these people to begin their lives afresh and support their families.
The holy month of Ramadan is likely to begin from May 27, subject to moon sighting.
