Six people killed on RAK roads in Ramadan so far

Ras Al Khaimah - Brigadier Dr Mohammed Saeed Al Humaidi said 13 road accidents were reported this Ramadan so far.

The emirate of Ras Al Khaimah has seen a significant drop of 33 percent in the number of traffic accidents in the first half of the holy month of Ramadan. 
Brigadier Dr Mohammed Saeed Al Humaidi, director general of the central operations of the RAK police, said 13 road accidents were reported this Ramadan so far. "These are compared to 18 over the same period last year." 
These ended in deaths, as well as serious, moderate, and minor injuries, he added. "However, six people were killed this Ramadan in comparison to six in the first 15 days of Ramadan last year." 
The RAK Police spare no effort to boost stability and security across the emirate in line with the strategy of the interior ministry to have full control of the roads of the country. "Such dedication has significantly curb road mishaps and causalities." 
An Indian motorcyclist was instantly killed after a speeding car, driven by a Syrian motorist, ran over him on Al Araibi Bridge in Ras Al Khaimah on Saturday morning. 
"The victim lost control over his motorcycle and fell down on the Bridge when unfortunately the speeding car ran over him." 
As per the forensic report, the man sustained grave injuries, particularly in his head, and bled excessively. 
"The Central Operations Room, alerted of the mishap, dispatched police patrols, an ambulance, and paramedics to the site but the victim was already dead," he said. 
"The body was shifted to the morgue of the nearest hospital for burial procedures ad due whereas the Syrian driver has been taken into police custody for interrogation." 
Urging motorists to be cautious and attentive on the road, Brig Humaidi said all drivers need to observe traffic rules and regulations, and abide by speed limit. "Speeding is one of the main reasons blamed for fatal accidents in the emirate."
