Life of much-hassled road users will be a tad happier now. Smiley, the ubiquitous icon of the happiness in the internet and mobile communication, will greet motorists at the road junctions in Ajman.
The Ajman Municipality has hit upon this innovative idea of transforming the red lights at all traffic intersections into smileys as part of its efforts to spread happiness and positive attitudes among the residents.
Marwan Obaid Al Muhairi, director of project management and CEO of positive happiness at the municipality, said the idea of replacing the red signal with the emoticon was proposed by Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, chairman of Ajman municipality and planning department, as part of his vision of creating a happy and optimistic society in the emirate.
Stating that the happiness and well-being of all residents is its top priority, Al Muhairi said the civic body is taking all necessary steps to realise the noble objective.
The municipality of late has been making efforts to rebrand the city as an ideal destination for happy-go-lucky tourists.
