A total of 1,347 awareness programmes on the safety and protection of the children was conducted by the Sharjah Social Service Department (SSSD) in 2018.
Mariam Al Qaseer, director of cultural awareness section at the SSSD, said a total of 63,405 parents and children benefited from the 1,347 awareness campaigns carried out by the awareness section in 2018. The awareness programme also included training of 26 government employees.
"The SSSD participated in various events, including the Sharjah Children's Reading Festival, where it presented a series of awareness programmes of safety and protection. The programme focused on how to instil moral values and Islamic teachings in children," she said.
"It also carried out 658 programmes to educate children on the danger of bullying and parental relations which was attended by 101 parents and children. The 'Annual Forum of Guardians and Minors' was attended by 50 children. We also participated in the "4th Spring Family Forum" which was attended by 1415 children."
Al Qaseer added that the SSSD also had a programme to educate parents on how to teach their children to say "no".
