A 19-year-old Indian student fell to his death at a university campus in Dubai. Having been alerted of the incident, the police reached the site at 10.30am on Wednesday.
Officials found the student in a pool of blood and pronounced him dead. He fell from the fifth floor of a building at the campus and the police are investigating it as a possible case of suicide.
According to a close friend of the student, he had come to the university with his father to pay his fees. He told his father that he wanted to use the washroom. It was after this that he fell to his death.
The friend said the victim was "absolutely normal" when they spoke the night before the incident and that he did not notice any signs of depression. He said that tragic accident has shocked everyone.
The police are currently carrying out an investigation to establish the cause of death and rule out any criminal motive behind the incident.
Murdoch University Dubai confirmed the death of the student on Thursday.
"We wish to express our sincere condolences to family members, friends and colleagues. We are working closely with the relevant authorities. The university is also providing counseling services to all students and staff," the university said in a statement
