Students from all over the UAE got an opportunity to race at the Formula Ethara National Finals with their paper cars.
Primary school students across the country formed 35 teams to compete in the finals held at Yas Marina Circuit recently.
The programme was aimed at testing science, technology, engineering and math skills of the students.
Team Fast & Furious from GEMS Wellington International School won the second Formula Ethara.
Students were tasked to design, test, market and build their own miniature paper cars.
Team Leader Sasha said: "It took approximately two hours to do the basic designing. Then we worked on the colour scheme, logo and dealing with the sponsors. It was quite challenging to get the sponsors but we made it. I feel fast and furious as a champion, thrilled and excited."
Teams were judged on their presentation skills and teamwork.
Priyanshi, design engineer of the team, who loves sports and arts, said: "I think it was their hard work as well as the team work which really paid off."
Aimed at promoting the innovative side of the students, Formula Ethara focuses on the overall development of the youth in UAE.
