Money, business, management, and the 'global financial crisis' might be a subject that is overwhelming for school students.
Take 16-year-old Chaitya Sanghvi, a student of Delhi Private School, Sharjah, for example. He said: "Honestly, as students we find it a little tough to grasp the business pages of a newspaper. However, it is important that students are well aware of the financial situation in today's world."
Sanghvi spoke to Khaleej Times at 'Opinions 2016', a financial summit hosted by the DPS Sharjah for school and University students.
The event took place at the Emirates Aviation College in Dubai was organised by the Department of Commerce at the school on Saturday.
Experts from the field of economics, business, policy and education, converged on a common platform to engage in a highly informed debate on critical contemporary economic and business issues at the forum.
"In today's dynamic business environment it is important to constantly create opportunities for students by organising events, seminars, workshops, field visits, and publications of international standards," said Vandana Marwaha, principal of the host school.
Students raised several questions to the various panelists of the forum.
The panelists included Anurag Bhushan, The Consul General to Dubai and Northern Emirates, who also presided over the panel; Kim Winters, Global CEO of Logistics Executive Group; Ajay Rajendran, Vice Chairman, Sobha Developers; Amit Kothari, MD of Interstar Advisor Services; Rami Al Samra, Manager- Business Solutions, Emirates Airport Services; Venkatesh Srikantan, Head of Consumer Banking, ADIB; and Professor Christopher Abraham, Senior Vice President, SP Jain school of Global Management.
A student from DPS, Sharjah, asked Bhushan: "In this current changing socio-economic scenario, how do you perceive to strengthen the ties between the two countries?"
Bhushan replied: "India is divided into three floors, workers, professionals and trade. However, last year they moved on to strategic partnership that involved analytic relationships."
Students and teachers attending the seminar stated that the seminar gave them an excellent insight into the current economic situation.
Sahil Arora (16), student of DPS Sharjah said: "Financial situation of a nation is often times a daunting subject for students. As school students we have to learn and stay in tune with the current affairs. What better way to do it than interact directly with them."
Another student Ananya V.S (16) said: "The exposure we get through such events helps us more than it does in a classroom."
Towards the end of the discussion, the crowd learned that it is important to take a closer look at "solutions", the plans of the global elite being proposed and implemented to meet the current global financial crisis.
