Ten years have passed since His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE, acceded as Ruler of Dubai.
Since then, a development drive took over the emirate that made the world stand up and notice the small desert nation. From the Arab Reading Challenge launched this year - with more than a million students committing to read 50 million extracurricular books - to the Dh2-billion Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Fund to Finance Innovation, his initiatives take care of both the UAE and the world and will continue to do so.

His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has over the past few years dedicated his accession day anniversary to thank the community.

Dubai Cares, September 20: Shaikh Mohammed launched the Dubai cares campaign to raise money to educate 1 million children in poor countries. the campaign was Dubai's contribution to the UN Millennium Development Goals for providing primary education to every child by 2015.

Arab Centre for philanthropy, January 21: Shaikh Mohammed launched the Arab centre for Philanthropy, seeking to mobilise strategic giving and promoting coordination among various arab philanthropic programmes.
Universal museums, May 10: Shaikh Mohammed announced the launch of the universal Museums project, which brought together leading collections by globally-recognised museums for the first time ever.

Centre for Cultural understandinG, December 28: Centre for cultural understanding, a non-profit organisation established to increase awareness and understanding between the various cultures that live in Dubai, launched.

M-Government, May 22: Shaikh Mohammed announced the post e-Government era with the launch of the Mobile Government (m-Government) initiative, marking a significant breakthrough in the delivery of government services to the public through their mobile phones.

UAE Suqia, June 25: UAE Suqia initiative (charity water) launched to provide clean drink-ing water to five million people worldwide.
Happiness meter, October 11: Happiness Meter launched to measure the happiness and satisfaction of the public in government services on a daily basis using electronic devices connected to a central network.
