Dubai - Residents, especially students, urged to join 10th Shaikha Manal Young Artist Award competition

Entries are invited for the 10th Shaikha Manal Young Artist Award competition, which is open to all the UAE residents aged between 18 and 30.
Representatives of Cultural Office of Her Highness Shaikha Manal bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum encouraged UAE students to join this year's competition, which aims to promote emerging artists from the UAE.
The competition is divided into four main categories: Fine Art, Photography, Multimedia and Design.

Who can join the contest
 The UAE residents aged between 18 and 30 can apply for the Shaikha Manal Young Artist Award competition. Group submission of maximum four artists is also eligible for contest.
 Prize money: First place: Dh50,000; Second place: Dh30,000; Third place: Dh20,000/

Last date: October 31
This year, group submissions of a maximum of four artists can also be submitted.
The competition will also feature a 'People's Choice' and 'Social Media' recognition award.
The Cultural Office has already visited the American University of Sharjah, the University of Sharjah, the Canadian University Dubai and Zayed University.
Further visits to additional universities across the UAE will take place in the coming months to provide insights of the competition and answer queries.
Mona Bin Kalli, director of the Cultural Office, said that the competition will culminate in a week-long exhibition featuring 100 shortlisted artworks, up from 50 in previous editions.
"The award provided us with a unique opportunity to engage directly with talented young artists, encouraging them to put their work forward and be recognised," she said.
The exhibition of shortlisted artworks will take place in November in City Walk 2.
The first prize winner will get Dh50,000 while the second and third prize winners will get Dh30,000 and 20,000 respectively.
The winners will be selected by a judge's panel comprising prominent figures within the UAE and the ceremony will take place in December.
All entries must be submitted online at www.youngartistaward.ae before October 31.
