The UAE boasts of being one of the most stable economies in the Middle East, attracting a large chunk of expatriates moving to the region - making Dubai the top cosmopolitan city according to a recent study as well as the best city for quality of life in the region along with Abu Dhabi.
A 2015 report by global research and advisory firm Universum ranked UAE as the top country where salary expectations are the highest.
Business students in the UAE expected to earn annual salaries equivalent to $82,538, according to the report.
While salaries in the UAE are above as compared to other countries in the region, 64% respondents of a 2015 Bayt.com research believed that salaries in the country were increasing.
It is noteworthy that according to a recent study, salaries are expected to increase by 5 per cent in the GCC, including the UAE.
So what are the highest or best paid jobs in the UAE? According to a 2015 Bayt.com report, these are the highest paid jobs in the UAE (data taken from Bayt.com's leading salary comparison tool, Salaries):
1. CEOs
Includes: Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and presidents
Average pay: Dh105,000
Pay range: Dh70,000 - Dh200,000
How to get there: Typical requirements are an MBA, extensive experience, and good connections.
2. C-suites
Includes: Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Chief Information Officer (CIO), Chief Technology Officer (CTO), Chief Legal Officer (CLO), Chief Risk Officer (CRO)
Average pay: Dh90,600
Pay range: Dh70,000 - Dh150,000
How to get there: Typical requirements are a postgraduate degree in the relevant field, experience in the same field, and advantageous connections.
3. Engineering
Includes: Construction Director, Construction Manager, Power Plant Manager, Engineering Manager
Average pay before tax: Dh48,750
Pay range: Dh23,000 - Dh70,000
How to get there: The larger roles will typically require a combination of experience and a relevant degree; often an MBA is helpful.
4. Sales, Marketing and Advertising
Includes: Public Relations Director, Executive Director, Advertising Creative Director
Average pay before tax: Dh48,330
Pay range: Dh35,000 - Dh68,000
How to get there: Most directors in this field have degrees, but these don't have to be in marketing or business. Many start off as graduate trainees at a large company and move up the career ladder.

Pay range: Dh28,000 - Dh85,000
How to get there: Have a background and experience in banking or the financial sector.
6. Technology
Includes: Director of Information Technology, Development Manager, Enterprise Architect, Product Manager
