Following the disappearance of calling app ToTok from the app stores, UAE residents expressed concern over the fear that they will not be able to use the app 'ever again'. Users of the app realised it has gone missing from both Android and Apple app stores on Saturday.

The mobile app used for free HD voice and video calls, ToTok had grown in popularity after BotIM's in-app announcement that users can now use ToTok instead. Users began noticing the ad first week of December as Khaleej Times reported on December 10.
Unlike BotIM, which requires a Dh100 subscription fee, ToTok is free of cost and users have said it provides high-quality calling services. "I came across the app on Reddit months ago. The call and video quality are great on ToTok. I cancelled by BotIM subscription a week after I started using ToTok," said Manav Prasad, a Dubai-resident.
Several others took to Twitter to announce their displeasure. One user posted on Reddit, a social news aggregation, web content rating, and discussion website, "Can't download it on my new iPhone. It was working just fine a few days ago. Now it's saying it's not available in my region. Well, that was fun while it lasted."
In response to a tweet from a user about VoIP services becoming available in the UAE, du replied, "We are now offering voice/video calls over internet protocol over two applications (C'Me and BOTIM) according to the UAE regulatory requirements for the voice/video calls over Internet Protocol (VoIP) for fixed and mobile internet users."
When Khaleej Times reached out to the app users in the United States and the UK, users reported that the app is also missing from their stores. However, users who downloaded the app earlier said they're able to use it without interruptions.
Telecommunication providers du and Etisalat have been reached out to for comments.
