Tune in to a radio show for the kids, hosted by child RJs

Dubai - The first-of-its-kind 'for the kids, by the kids' show called The Kids Club will see a group of children - both boys and girls from different nationalities - host a two-hour talk show at the centre's studios.

Eight kids have championed the art of being a radio jockey in a span of just three months at Al Jalila Cultural Centre for Children (AJCCC).
Every day from today, Pearl102 FM will host the region's first radio show by kids. The first-of-its-kind 'for the kids, by the kids' show called The Kids Club will see a group of children - both boys and girls from different nationalities - host a two-hour talk show at the centre's studios. The announcement was made during a Press conference held at AJCCC on Thursday.
The pre-recorded episodes of the show at AJCCC studios will cover a number of educational and entertaining topics which are of interest to children - the love of giving, the UAE, cartoons, occupations, family, travel and tourism. 
The topics were chosen by a team of experts from Pearl FM. The show is directed by Mona Al Marri and is produced by Dr Lamya Tawfik, a radio presenter and producer at Pearl FM. "The talk show will have four participants - all kids in the age group 8-13 years - with two main hosts and the other two as guests," Al Marri said.
Aashna Takhtani (8) and Mishal Faraz (10) are The Kids Club's two main hosts who are joined by six supporting hosts: Mohammad Fahad Moawaad (8); Oscar Mairet (12); Irra Bhattacharjee (6); Yara McDonald (9), Sana Pruthu Shah (8) and Magnus Tang (7). 
Giving the details of the show, Al Marri told Khaleej Times: "The show will be aired once a week (10am-12pm every Friday) with three re-runs during the weekend (from 5pm-7pm). The show is divided into six segments discussing various subjects. 
"Each segment of the show is three or four minutes long and at the end of these segments the kids play "clean, meaningful, child-appropriate English songs'. We also play some hit numbers but after editing them and making them "suitable" for the children to hear and see to it they do not have any slangs or bad words in them."
Talking about two special segments of the show, Lamya said: "As the show nears its end, the main hosts state an odd fact about the topic they discussed on the day. Also, since most of the kid hosts are non-Arabs, they learn and discuss a new Arabic word related to the topic of the day."
The Kids Club show will have a total of six episodes to be broadcast in English until December 2017. "The second season of the show will prepare the kids to hold live radio recordings where they can interact with other people and receive phone calls too," Al Marri added.
