Twin Emirati sisters, aged 20, died due to suffocation after a fire erupted in their villa in Al Twar 3 area in Dubai.
A domestic help and a minor girl received minor injuries.
Maj. General Rashid Thani Al Matroushi, Director General of Dubai Civil Defense, said that they received a call about the accident at 10.47am on Tuesday, following which a team of fire fighters and rescue units rushed to the villa, where the fire had erupted in the wing where the twin sisters were at that moment.
The rescue unit managed to save the minor girl and the domestic help, and controlled the fire from spreading to the rest of the villa.
The civil defense conducted a cooling operation at the villa and handed the site to the police to investigate the cause of the fire and to ensure that there was no criminal act behind it.
A top police official said that the forensic laboratory assigned a fire investigation expert to determine the cause of the fire. Further details will be released after the completion of the forensic report.
