A Pakistani man and his compatriot friend allegedly raped a woman after luring her to ride with them.
The 23-year-old defendant, who works as an office assistant, is believed to have met the Filipina online.
He and his friend, a 26-year-old clerk, both allegedly raped the woman in their car and stole her mobile phones and Dh3,000 in cash.
They pleaded not guilty to the charges in the Court of First Instance. The incident happened on March 11.
An Initial forensic report showed the victim's pregnancy test came positive. But she has to undergo some blood tests and other examination to confirm those results.
The complainant, a jobless, said that she had met the first accused two days prior to the incident on a social networking site. "He asked to meet me and I told him I would go to Port Saeed in Al Muraqqabat. He picked me from a bus stop."
She told him to drop her in Sharjah and he promised he would do so after picking his uncle up.
In the meantime, he told her he wanted to have sex with her. "I said I did not want to and he laughed. I tried to leave the car and yelled but he stopped me and covered my mouth."
She said she felt scared and kept quiet when he screamed at her. The clerk left the steering wheel to his friend and moved to the back seat where he raped her.
His friend did the same shortly later. The clerk raped her again after that.
They dropped her in Deira. She realised they stole her belongings after trying to call her friend but could not find her mobile phone.
She said they stole Dh3,000 in cash and two mobile phone worth around Dh1,500. The accused admitted to the charges in the investigation.
