Two drivers sustained grave injuries in a heavy truck pileup on the Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed road opposite the emirate of Umm Al Quwain late on Thursday. Four vehicles were involved in the accident.
The central operations room of the UAQ police, alerted about the traffic accident, immediately dispatched traffic patrols, ambulances, paramedics, and rescue teams to the reported site.
Informed sources with the UAQ police blamed the pileup on speeding and failure to observe safety distance.
"All drivers, particularly those of heavy trucks need to observe traffic rules and regulations; mainly speed and safety distance."
The injured drivers were shifted to the nearest hospital for treatment. The accident file was referred to the department concerned for legal action.
