The Ministry of International Cooperation and Development (Micad) announced on Thursday that the UAE's total humanitarian aid for Yemen in 2015 stood at Dh430 million, including Dh190 million in fuel and electricity aid, Dh110 million in food aid, Dh80 million in medical supplies, Dh30 million in assistance for providing water and sewage services, and Dh20 million in various other forms of relief aid.
Micad revealed the figures in a new report and said the aid was part of the UAE's response to Yemen's humanitarian situation resulting from political turmoil.
In a statement about the announcement, Shaikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, said: "The country's wise leadership, namely the President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan; His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai and His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, spare no effort to extend a helping hand to all people affected by the humanitarian crises."
The UAE was among the first countries to provide all types of relief aid to Yemen through effective coordination and partnership with Saudi Arabia.
Sheikh Mansour thanked Saudi Arabia for providing facilities to ensure the delivery of the UAE humanitarian aid to the victims of political turmoil in Yemen. - Wam
