The UAE-based author Rajiv Shah unveiled his book Forever - A Love Saga, at a well-attended function in the Indian Social and Cultural Centre last week.
Shah is a romantic soul with Bollywood in heart and figures in head, being the chairman of Abu Dhabi chapter of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India.
So, what is the book like, which is only the first among the trilogy?
"It's a love story with unexpected twists. It is a book that captures moments of love, romance, humour and suspense."
Rajiv has spun a gripping romance-fiction around the lives of college-goers Arjun and Karishma. The suspense happens when the leading lady is murdered.
The book is, in fact, based on his college days at Jai Hind College. "I wanted to give something back to my college, too."
Some of the characters are real-life.
"I have brought some elements from my life experience. I have also got a Dubai angle to this. One character is based in Dubai."
It took him three years to write the book. "Last year, I got time to finish the book," said Shah, who is also secretary of the Indian Business and Professional Group, Abu Dhabi. "This is a precious moment for me," he said about the book launch.
Shah used to write right from his college days, including poems. And now he is not resting. He has already penned 100 pages into his next book Forbidden. Shah has an interesting take on the next part of his trilogy.
"It is based on midlife crisis."
The book was launched by Indian Ambassador Navdeep Singh Suri and the first copy was presented to founder and CEO of NMC Healthcare and chairman of UAE Exchange, BR Shetty.
Navdeep Suri said it was a "pleasure to see radars detected an author being born among us."
BR Shetty praised the creative writing of Shah.
The book has been published by Notion Press and is available in Jashanmal Stores, Carrefour, and for online purchase at kinokuniya.com and souq.com.
