The UAE Federal Law on child rights, also referred to as Wadeema's Law, safeguards children against all forms of neglect, exploitation, and both physical and psychological abuse.
The law also emphasises that all children are entitled to adequate living standards, access to healthcare, education, and equal opportunities in essential services and facilities, free from discrimination.
UAE's Child Protection Unit aims to implement the policy and maintaining children's rights as per the legislation. These include protecting children from all forms of harm, negligence, discrimination and abuse that they may experience in the surrounding environment, by any person with legal guardian, authority or responsibility over the child or any relation whatsoever.
The law aims to collaborate with other UAE laws to create a comprehensive legal framework that governs the rights of children. This includes the Criminal Law, Cyber Law, Juvenile Law, Employment Law, and Personal Status Law.
