Kids gathered at the Emirates Airline Festival of Literature on Friday to celebrate the launch of My Little World, a children’s book authored by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

The festival hosted an interactive story-telling event for the children to rejoice and draw inspiration from stories of Sheikh Mohammed’s childhood.

Dubai-based actor and storyteller Lamya Tawfik hosted the interactive session and was joined by Isobel Abulhoul, CEO and trustee of the Emirates Literature Foundation, and the festival director, Ahlam Bolooki. The speakers read two short stories from the collection, in both Arabic and English and encouraged the children to actively take part in the discussion.

Kids recounted Sheikh Mohammed’s brave endeavours in the discussion with the speakers. The session also included a fun round of question and answer, giving the children a chance to win a full book-set of My Little World.

The event was concluded with an exclusive video from Sheikh Mohammed, on the importance of reading, where he shared the significance of learning and discovering new things every day, leading a life full of adventure, leaving the kids with some valuable life lessons to take away from this inspiring evening.

Emirates Lit Fest has had an incredible lineup so far, bringing together renowned regional, international authors, social influencers and avid readers. Albeit a socially-distanced affair, with all Covid protocols set in place, the festival is a place of seeking solace in times of immense distress caused by the pandemic, bringing together a community celebration of film, creativity, sociocultural awareness and all things literature.
