UAE conference to celebrate women's innovations

Abu Dhabi - Leading citizens, including university students, who have presented distinctive innovations will be honoured on the day.

Women - both young and old - will be celebrated on March 8, during a first of its kind event, titled 'Emirati Woman Conference: Distinction and Innovation.'
The event, to be held under the patronage of Shaikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union, Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation, and Chairwoman of Motherhood, Childhood Supreme Council will address women's innovations.
Leading citizens, including university students, who have presented distinctive innovations will be honoured on the day.
During a Press conference held at Emirates Palace on Monday, Major-General Dr Abdul Quddous Abdul Razzaq Al Obaidly, Chairman of the Emirates Intellectual Property Association (EIPA), said conference will take place on March 8, at Emirates Palace.
He pointed out that the event, organised by the Ministry of Interior (MoI), the General Women's Union, and the EIPA, will coincide with International Women's Day.
"The organisation of the conference aligns with the national innovation strategy, which aims to transform the UAE into one of the most inventive countries internationally over the next seven years, and was launched by His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai."
"This conference is also held within the framework of the national strategy to empower women and increase their innovation between 2015 and 2021, launched by Her Highness Shaikha Fatima," he noted.
The conference will address the means, dimensions and recommendations of Emirati women's creations and innovations. It will also honour leading female citizens, including 10 university students in their final years, who presented distinctive inventions among a number of candidates.
It will also include an artistic operetta written by poet Abdullah bin Shamma with the participation of a number of artists, composed by artist Fayez Al Saeed, directed by artist Dr Habib Ghuloom, and performed by artist Samira Ahmad and the Ornina Band.
