A joint delegation from the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, National Qualification Authority (NQA) and the Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council, visited India to discuss ways to enhance cooperation in the areas of labour skills development, accreditation of professional qualifications, endorsement of training centres and evaluation of manpower.
The visit is part of the deal agreed upon during the visit of His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, to India in February this year. It also comes in the context of the Letter of Intent signed by the NQA with the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship of India, within the context of strengthening relations and serving the common interests of both countries.
The tour was culminated with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the National Qualifications Authority and the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship of India. Dr. Thani Ahmed Al Mehairi, Director-General of the NQA and Shri Rohit Nandan, Secretary of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, signed the MoU.
The deal focuses on the development of a common framework for skills based on the basic principles and criteria for national system of qualifications that contribute to the development of human resources in the two countries in terms of educational and vocational training as also technical qualifications. It also addresses related mechanisms and quality systems and outputs that ensure upgrading of productivity in the market, mutual recognition of professional qualifications and professionalism in a manner that contributes to the quality control when it comes to knowledge and skills of the workforce in the labour market.
Al Mehairi welcomed the signing of the MoU, which will accomplish international harmonisation of the national system of qualifications with its Indian counterpart, and adopt a strategy and mechanism of joint action to develop a matrix of professions and standards for the skills and knowledge required in the labour market.
A joint supreme supervisory committee and joint technical teams were formed to activate the MoU, and hold mutual meetings within a specified time frame.
