Sharjah Charity International (SCI) has provided Dh16.4 million worth of housing support to 1,544 people in 2020, helping them rebuild houses or pay rent and utility bills.
The initiative comes in line with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, to support people in need.
Abdullah Sultan bin Khadim, executive director of the SCI, said several initiatives were launched in 2020 to help families weather the challenges brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic. Besides financial housing support, necessary furniture and appliances were also provided to families as part of the aid programmes.
