Mohammed Ahmed Al Murr, Speaker of Federal National Council (FNC), has stressed that the UAE, under its wise leadership, has been a pioneer in calling for finding global solutions to climate change and poverty, epidemics and other problems.
On the sidelines of his participation as a head of the UAE Parliamentary Division's delegation at the Fourth World Conference of Speakers of Parliament, which concluded yesterday at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, Al Murr said in a statement to WAM, that the conference is held every five years with the participation of heads of parliaments of the world to discuss the political, economic, social and cultural conditions of the various countries of the world, as well as the challenges facing humanity, whether related to the environment and its problems, the economy and its developments, or education and its challenges.
He said that the conference is an opportunity where parliamentary leaderships exchange constructive ideas and international cooperation among the peoples' representatives and the leaders of nations meet to achieve coordination and cooperation between governments. He stressed that the cooperation of parliaments and governments helps to overcome many international difficulties.
He noted that the UAE government has extended a helping hand to the victims of various international disasters in Asia, Africa and Latin America besides its pioneer role in supporting peace initiatives and solving regional and international problems.
