The UAE's leadership met on Monday to discuss the nation's achievements, ahead of the country's historic Hope probe entrance into Mars' orbit on February 9.

His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, took to Twitter on Monday to commend and encourage all involved.

"My brother Mohammed bin Rashid and I discussed our national achievements, particularly in space and science, and our pride in the nation’s youth," he said.

The CP noted that they were updated on the progress of the probe during the meeting by Sarah Al-Amiri, Minister of State for Advanced Sciences and Science Lead of the Emirates Mars Mission.

"We wish you all success on this historic journey," he said.

"Our investment in human capital proved worthwhile as we see our youth capable of reaching the stars,” he added. “We are proud of our people and we look forward to making a historic contribution to serve humanity.”

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai also took to social media to talk about the meeting, during which the Rulers discussed matters of national importance, and reviewed the progress of the Hope probe.

The Dubai Ruler noted that the probe is set to reach the Red Planet on February 9 after a journey of 493 million kilometres.

“It is a historic event that our country will celebrate, as it marks 50 years since the establishment of the UAE and its golden jubilee,” he said.

Sharing a video of the probe's journey, he added, "We are 9 days away from the arrival of UAE's Hope probe to Mars in the first Arab interplanetary mission. The UAE will be the 5th nation to reach the Red Planet. The probe has a 50% success rate in entering Mars' orbit, but we achieved 90% of our goals in building new knowledge."
