The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in UAE has issued a warning on its social media handle regarding scam messages sent in its name.

The post reads: "The MOFA warns the public regarding any suspicious messages or correspondence issued in the name of the ministry or affixed with the ministerial logo.
"Please report all such messages to the ministry on its number 80044444."
UAE government entities and companies regularly warn customers about such dubious emails and phone calls, and urge the public to constantly check with the department or company involved.
In August, Enoc sent a warning to customers about a phishing email that told customers that Enoc's bank account details had changed. Another scam, related to value-added tax, came to light last week. "You may have received a recent e-mail with the subject line 'VAT Refund Notification', claiming to be from Emirates NBD. Please be aware that this is a phishing e-mail," the lender said in a statement sent to its customers.
