Speaking at the opening session, Humaid Mohammed Obaid Al Qattami, Minister of Education, said, “The UAE aims towards international competitiveness through its education development process. Through the developed infrastructure of our schools, we were able to launch the smart learning programme in eight schools this year.”
He also announced an expansion of the ‘Mohammad Bin Rashid Smart Learning Programme’, which was launched in April 2012, with the addition of eight more schools this year.
Speaking with Khaleej Times, Dr Eesa Bastaki, Chair of this year’s edition of GEF, said, “Smart learning will make education enjoyable. We want to allow students to learn more using technology. For this, we need to create smart teachers, smart students and smart parents who believe in a smart curriculum.”
Experts on smart learning and technological advances will continue to share their insights at various keynote presentations; while some of the world’s biggest providers of ICT and e-learning solutions will showcase products. More than 300 exhibitors from over 30 countries are also taking part in the Gulf Educational Supplies and Solutions (GESS) exhibition held along side the Global Education Forum.
