The Dubai Police has announced the cancellation of minor traffic violations committed on Flag Day and the upcoming Martyrs Day (November 30) and National Day (December) 2.
Major-General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of the Dubai Police, stated that text messages will be sent to the erring drivers, informing about the cancellation of their offences and fines.
As part of the National Day preparations in the emirate, security and civil patrols will be deployed, police presence increased in all areas to prevent undesirable public behaviour. Residents are asked to adhere to the laws and prevent any disruptions during the celebration and holiday events.
Maj-Gen Al Marri said the force had issued a similar cancellation during Ramadan, which named minor offences as expired car registrations, not wearing a seatbelt and driving at night without the lights.
On this occasion, the offences have not been specified.
Security plan in place
Maj-Gen Al Marri called on citizens, residents, and tourists to exercise caution in crowded places, keep an eye on their belongings and be particularly carefuly about their phones or cameras.
Parents are also asked to be particularly carefuly about their children, while out in the streets or at shopping malls and entertainment areas like the Global Village.
Any suspicious activity or missing item or person should immediately reported to the Dubai Police or on 901, which operates 24/7. Women's police will also be deployed at celebration areas.
The Dubai Police chief also revealed that an integrated security plan has been put in place and that the General Directorate of Traffic will secure all roads and highways, in addition to public transport. The public are asked to avoid engaging in wrong or abusive behaviour during the long weekend celebrations. Youngsters, in particular, are asked to abide by traffic rules and not endanger the lives of the public.
The police will be present for the convenience and happiness of the public in all areas.
