Fifteen orphans from Dubai's Hemaya Schools for Boys were recently given an opportunity to learn the basics of horseback riding, thanks to a local community initiative.
Organised as part of the Dubai Police campaign 'Positive Spirit', the force's Mounted Police organised the training workshop to the delight of its young participants.
The event, which took place at the Mounted Police Department in Al Aweer area, was delivered by the authority's professional trainers, who introduced the boys to the basics of horsemanship.
The orphans were given hands-on experience in different areas, from riding and grooming to horse arts and playing with the horses. They were also trained in saddling, bridling, riding attire, mounting, holding the reins, correct riding position, and steering.
Dubai Police mascot Amna kept them entertained, while also raising their awareness of the precautionary measures against the new coronavirus.
The orphans extended their appreciation to Dubai Police at the end of the event. The opportunity to spend time with their new four-legged friends gave them joy and pleasure and left them with valuable skills and knowledge, they said.
