The decision to pardon the convicted was based on the fraternal relations that unite UAE and Egypt. The convicted players from the Egyptian Zamalek Club had been sentenced to a month in jail and were fined Dh200,000 each.

Nabil Emad Dongha, Mustafa Shalaby, and football director Abdel Wahed El Sayed were summoned to a police station for questioning on Monday, October 21, according to Egyptian media reports.

In its ruling, the court said that the charges against the accused were substantiated. The decision was based on testimonies of victims, which was corroborated by security camera footage, during the public prosecution's investigations.

Additionally, it was confirmed that the defendants did not comply with organisational regulations and assaulted public employees responsible for securing the sporting event.
