The President, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, has called on the international community to take "appropriate" steps to stop Israeli violations in Al Aqsa Mosque. He called for committing Israel to basic standards for serious negotiations based on the terms of reference on a two-state solution.
Shaikh Khalifa stressed these standards would be capable of ending all Israeli occupation manifestations in all the Palestinian territories, including East Jerusalem, and the opportunity to establish a viable Palestinian state with Al Quds as its capital, living alongside the state of Israel in permanent peace and security.
The comments came in a solidarity message addressed by Shaikh Khalifa to Paul Badji, chairman of the committee on the exercise of the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people, on the occasion of the Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, which falls annually on November 29. In his message, Shaikh Khalifa reiterated the UAE's consistent and principled position in supporting the inalienable rights of Palestinian people and the need for full international recognition of an independent and sovereign state. He condemned the "provocative" Israeli policies and practices.
He stressed these practices are "null, void and illegal" and constitute a flagrant violation of the provisions of international law, international humanitarian law, Fourth Geneva Convention of 1949 and international legitimacy resolutions.
Shaikh Khalifa said the Israeli government is fully responsible for the serious consequences that may result from the policies of escalation in the Palestinian territories. - Wam
