UAE royals lead condolence meet for Saif Ahmed Al Ghurair

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai; and His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, led the condolence meet for esteemed Emirati businessman Saif Ahmed Al Ghurair, who passed away on Tuesday, August 27.

Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, was among the Sheikhs, businessmen and residents who poured in from across the country to the mourning tent at Al Ghurair's residence in Al Khawaneej.
The mood was solemn and reverential, as one by one people came to extend their sympathies to the Al Ghurair family, led by Saif's younger brother, Abdulla bin Ahmad Al Ghurair, founder and chairman of Mashreq Bank.
The mourning meet will be until Thursday in Al Khawaneej
Shahmir Hussain, a Pakistani-Canadian, who is the finance head of Gulf Extrusions, part of Al Ghurair Group, told Khaleej Times: "He was one of the UAE's pioneers. Proof of that was he owned Dubai's post box number 1."
Austrian expat Christian Witsch, CEO of the same company, added: "Al Ghurair built a strong foundation not just for his own business activities but also for the entire country."
A young Emirati, Ahmed Al Hashimi, 23, called him a "pillar of the UAE economy". "He was a close friend of my late father," Al Hashimi said. "His business acumen helped shape the UAE's booming economy."
