The United Nations Office for Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in Geneva has expressed its appreciation for efforts made by the UAE and other GCC countries to help Yemenis affected by Cyclone Chapala.
Jens Laerke, a spokesman of the OCHA, said the GCC countries had sent at least 17 aircraft loaded with aid to the Socotra island. The UAE, he noted, has provided over 30 tonnes of medical relief supplies for the Khalifa bin Zayed Hospital in Socotra through the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation.
