There is a smart way to offer your Eid Al Adha animal sacrifice in Dubai this year: Use an app and get the meat home-delivered. The Dubai Municipality has said that animal sacrifice requests can be made via four apps: Al Mawashi, Turki, Shabab Al Freej and Dhabayih Aldaar.
"The animals are slaughtered under the supervision of the municipality," the civic body said. "Sacrificial animals can also be requested from charities such as Dar Al Ber Society, Dubai Charity Association, Red Crescent Authority, Al Ihsan Charity Association, Sharjah Charity International, Beit Al Khair Society and the UAE Food Bank."
This came as the municipality announced on Sunday that its abattoirs are being readied to receive Eid Al Adha orders. Strict precautionary measures will be implemented to curb the spread of Covid-19.
Dubai abattoirs will sacrifice the animal after a veterinary examination. A doctor will then examine the meat again before it's delivered to residents' homes.
One of the two major festivals in Islam, Eid Al Adha is celebrated on the 10th of Zul Hijjah, the last month of the Islamic calendar. It marks the willingness of the Prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice his son out of faith in Allah. In commemoration of this faith, Muslims sacrifice animals and divide it into three parts: The family retains one-third of the share; another third is given to relatives, friends, and neighbours; and the remaining third is given to the poor and needy.
