Authorities have put out a fire in a building in Sharjah within minutes of arriving at the scene.
The adjoining areas have been cordoned off after the building was evacuated as part of the safety measures.

According to eyewitnesses and residents, it was a kitchen fire on the 24th floor of the Buhairah Insurance building in Al Nahda that caused the incident.
Kenyan expat Desmond, a sixth floor resident of the high rise building, told Khaleej Times that the fire broke out around 9.30pm. "I was alarmed by the sound of police sirens and came down to see what was happening out of curiosity. It is then that I realised there was a massive fire in the 24th floor." The fire alarm did not go off, according to him, leaving scores of residents of the building unaware of the incident initially.
Indian resident Anand Sharma said he was alarmed by heavy smoke and smell of burning rubber. "The smell was intense and unbearable. When I looked out, I saw a huge sea of people outside when I realised it was fire," said the 11th floor resident.
Further details are awaited.
