In a shocking incident in Indian state of Jharkhand, a party worker was filmed washing the feet of BJP MP, Nishikant Dubey, and then drinking that water on Sunday.

The video which has now gone viral, is being criticised on social media for the MP's inappropriate act. The incident took place when Dubey visited to his constituency Godda in Jharkhand to announce the construction of a bridge.

The video shows him walking up to the party worker and placing his feet on a metal plate to be washed by the worker. The MP is being slammed for allowing the party worker to wash his feet and drink the used water.

"The arrogance of the ilk of BJP leaders like Nishikant Dubey who are habitual offenders of insulting others, of breaking the tradition and of self-propelling a God-like status for themselves, is now out in open," Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala said, according to ANI report.

This is not the first time that the BJP MP has landed in controversy. In July this year, Dubey's 'divorce' remark on Rahul Gandhi created quite a stir after he said that leaders may be divorced by their wives if they embrace the Congress president as "Section 377 hasn't been scrapped as yet".

His remarks had come a day after Rahul Gandhi said BJP MPs step back on seeing him as they fear he might hug them.
