It is not uncommon for Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council, to walk on the streets in an international country and mingle with the locals without making his stature obvious to them.
The Dubai Crown Prince is currently visiting New York, and we tracked his adventures there through his Instagram posts.
On his trip, Fazza, as Sheikh Hamdan is popularly known, went ahead and took a local taxi, driven by a Sikh driver, to commute within the city. In the Instagram post he shared, we can see the crown prince commute like a regular passenger as he continues to film the roads of New York from the cab.
After getting down, he thanks the cabbie for the ride. The cabbie responds with a matter-of-fact "Okay. Have a nice day."
Based on the cabbie's nonchalant response, it seems that the driver did not realise that he was in the presence of Arab royalty and had been driving around the Crown Prince around New York.
Now, this isn't the first time that Sheikh Hamdan has taken public transport in an international city. In 2016, he along with his father, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, took the London Underground Tube, much to the surprise of co-passengers.
Known for his active lifestyle, the young Crown Prince prefers to walk around and trek where ever he travels.
