The 18th edition of the Arab Media Forum, organised by the Dubai Press Club, kicked off in Dubai on Wednesday, March 27. An interactive forum aimed at tackling future challenges of journalism, the forum was officially inaugurated by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai.

Over 3,000 regional and international media leaders, scholars, writers and experts have come together to attend the 18th edition of AMF.
 

 
Speaking at the inaugural session, Mona Al Marri, director general of the Dubai Media Office (DMO), "Organised under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed, the forum reinforces the role of the media for a prosperous future. In the ongoing fourth technological revolution, the UAE has taken necessary steps to secure the future of the UAE."
She added, "We need to look into the status quo and see, to what extent the media meets the needs of the people." Speaking at another session, Fabrice Fries, the chairman and CEO of international news agency AFP said with the emergence of an alternative media ecosystem in fake news, journalists and news agencies play a very vital role in verifying information.
The two- day forum is held under the theme 'Arab media: From now to the future', and the event will feature over 75 speakers and 200 prominent media figures representing more than 20 countries from across the Arab region and the world.
